Richard "Dick" Datesman, of Easton, PA, left us to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16, 2018, one week before his 90th birthday, at St. Luke's Bethlehem. Dick was born on April 25, 1928 in Pen Argyl, PA, a son of the late Carl and Margaret (Houser) Datesman. Dick was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School, class of 1946, and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Air Force in Okinawa from 1946-1949. He was married to Dolores (Lahr) Datesman for 62 wonderful years until her death in 2014. Dick retired from Schaible's Bakery. He loved his sports, Eagles and Philly's and watched them faithfully. He was a pitcher for many years; a golfer and a great bowler; and was "Man of the Year." He loved camping in his Winnebago with his wife and grandson and loved playing music to dance to; but most of all Dick loved spending time with family and friends at his cabin at Camelback. Dick was the sweetest, most generous and caring man you could ever meet. In his life, he was loved by many and now celebrates in Heaven with loved ones there. Dick was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church of Farmersville, PA, where he served many years on the church council. He is survived and missed by his daughter, Michelle Goodman and husband James of Nazareth, PA; son Kyle Datesman of Bethlehem, PA; grandson Jared Goodman and wife Allison; two great-grandchildren, Mia, and Jace of Naples, FL; a sister, Kay Newton and husband Cliff; and a brother, Jerry Datesman and wife Diane. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dyle and Wendell Datesman. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp). A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Dick's memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250-0301. Online condolences may be offered at morellofuneralhome.com.
