Andrew Jacob Lewis, 40, formerly of Noblesville, Indiana, extraordinary renaissance man, remarkable husband, magnificent father, sweetest son, protective brother, awe-inspiring teacher (Maple Glen Elementary School in Westfield, IN), and best friend to all, decided to out-trick cancer one last time and left his body before it could cause him any more pain on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland Ohio.

Andrew stubbornly, and with remarkable strength and humility, battled Hodgkins Lymphoma for an entire decade, never once giving up hope to outsmart its hold on his body, spirit, family, friends, students, and dreams. There was, is, and never will be another man on earth like him: the warmest and most respectful disposition, befriending for life every single person he ever met. His joyous temperament, constant grin, and most endearing and infectious laugh will reverberate in our hearts forever.

Born in Hinsdale, Illinois on October 14, 1977, husband to Carrie, father to Charlie and Cate, and son of Dr. Jay and Kathy Lewis of Peru Indiana, Andrew was a graduate of Peru High School ('96), obtained his Bachelor of Arts in education ('01), and his Masters of Education ('10) from Ball State University. Andrew began his career as a third grade teacher at Maconaquah Elementary School in Bunker Hill, and, from its' inception in 2005 through 2018 Andrew was a third grade teacher at Maple Glen Elementary school in Westfield, IN. Andrew was an accomplished national and state award winning brew master, owning and operating The Brass Monkey Brewing Company in Kokomo Indiana. In 2008 Andrew created, produced, and co-hosted the radio broadcast and podcast "The Happy Hour Lounge," is still available at www.happyhourlounge.podbean.com.

Andrew is survived by his paternal grandmother Joyce Lewis of North Manchester, IN, his parents, wife, son and daughter, brother Matthew (Tracy) Lewis of Peru, sister Rachel (Andrew) Richey of Logansport, his German Shepherd Gordon, tortoise Dorothy, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends who loved and cherished him more than anyone knew was humanly possible. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather John Lewis, maternal grandparents Virginia and Richard Kreutzer, brother-in-law Dan Witting and niece Virginia Anne Lewis.

Andrew would want us all to celebrate his impressive life with a toast to joy, laughter, and friendship rather than tears and heartache. He was, is, and will always be impressed and honored by the endless outpouring of love for him from so far and wide by so many for so long. We will never forget his undying love for his family, his passion for children and education, and his constant intention to have as much fun and happiness as possible.

Andrew, consummate lover of trees, will be returned to the earth, on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Visitation will be at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, IN, 325 East Carmel Drive, 11:00am – 2:00pm; Services will begin at 2:00pm.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, Andrew's personal preference for cancer research and pediatric patient and caregiver support. Online condolences may be shared by visiting flannerbuchanan.com.
