He was born on May 18, 1934 in Ste. Genevieve, the son of the late Edwin L. and Wilma L. (Uding) Bauman.
He was married to Lucille "Lu" (Zahner) Bauman on May 21, 1955. She survives in Ste. Genevieve.
Two sons and two daughters survive, Tim Bauman of Ste. Genevieve; Randy Bauman of St. Louis; Terry Bieller of Bloomsdale; and Jeannie Bauman of Ste. Genevieve.
Five sisters survive him, Janet Govreau of Ormond Beach, Fla.; Rosalie Arnold of Ste. Genevieve; Marilyn Basler of Ste. Genevieve; Brenda Holst of Bloomsdale; and Pat Lurk of Ste. Genevieve.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Julie and Erin Bieller, and Jake and Michael Bauman.
One brother, Michael Bauman, preceded him in death.
Mr. Bauman was president of Bauman Oil and Auto Parts; a member and past Grand Knight of Ste. Genevieve Knights of Columbus Council 1037; member of Ste. Genevieve 4th Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus; Ste. Genevieve Elks; Ste. Genevieve Lion's Club; Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce (past president); New bourbon Port Authority; Jour de Fete Committee (past president); Board member of Union Planters Bank, Ste. Genevieve; River Heritage; Friends of the Museum; and Ste. Genevieve Golf Club.
Visitation will Sunday, Feb. 9 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Basler Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Charles L. "Pete" Bauman will be held Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of Ste. Genevieve. Rev. John Deken will officiate. Burial will be in the Valle Spring Cemetery.
Memorials may go to Masses, Ste. Genevieve Museum, or Michael Bauman Scholarship Fund.
