Gloria Besedich Farmington Gloria Jean Besedich, 73, of Farmington (Oakhurst Community) went to be with the Lord on Thursday (Sept. 23, 2004) at her residence, surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren. She was born Jan. 19, 1931, at Rachel, a daughter of the late Aaron and Emma Rush Scritchfield. Mrs. Besedich was formerly employed at Westinghouse Corp. before devoting her life to her family. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Oakhurst and attended the Church of Christ at White Hall, where she had taught Bible School and Sunday School. She was a Farmington Homeroom Mother and Farmington Cub Scout Den Mother. Mrs. Besedich continued a time-honored family tradition of celebrating Serbian Christmas (Jan. 7) each year since 1967, opening her home up to family as they celebrated the holiday. This tradition has been handed down by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Katy Besedich, and she made it an important part of her family's life. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Daniel Besedich Sr., whom she married Sept. 5, 1948. She was the mother of six children - three sons, Daniel Wayne Besedich of Oakhurst and fiancé Anita Serdich Bray and her daughter, Ashley Bray, and Michael Joe and Matt William Besedich, both of Farmington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Thomas Cale of Fairmont, Holly and Robert Casto of White Hall, and Tina and Scott Mohr of Fairmont; 10 grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter - Derek and Ryan Besedich, Joshua and Aaron Cale, Travis, Bobbi Jean and Trent Casto, Sean and Cory Mohr, Bregan and Colby Besedich; and great-granddaughter, Devon Nicole Besedich; a sister, Dorothy Fisher of Maude, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Besedich was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Clarence Scritchfield, Evelyn "Sis" Hinerman, Pearl Wilson, Pauline Slatt, Betty Bouillett, Dale VanMeter, and Virgie Halsey. Public visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m. today at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Oakhurst Church of Christ with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating, assisted by Evangelist Randy Cook. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Farmington.
