Michael J. Abbott, age 87, passed away on June 19, 2022. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Southeast Catholic Graduate 1952, he lived in Upper Darby for 50 years. He was the son of the late Joseph T. and Anna M. Abbott (nee Kochersperger).

Michael received his Bachelor's Degree from LaSalle College in Philadelphia. He had been employed as a Civilian Personnel Director for the Naval Aviation Supply Office. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Michael enjoyed trips to Wildwood Crest, NJ, fishing, and monthly lunches with fellow alumni of the SCHS Class of 52. He was an avid reader, loved making people laugh, and enjoyed speaking Latin to unsuspecting people.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Mary Abbott (nee Quinn). Loving father of Anne Michele Abbott (Vincent Marano), Joseph T. Abbott (Anja), Barbara Anne Elko, M.D. (James) and Carole Anne Abbott (Chuck Cahill). Dear grandfather of Jonathan, Michael and Anna Abbott, Mary Ann and Dennis Elko, and Catherine Abbott. Brother of Joseph A. Abbott, Rosemary Killion, James Abbott and the late Nancy Murtha.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Friday, July 1, 2022 6:00-8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA (610) 353-6300 and Saturday, July 2, 2022 10:00-10:50 AM at Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA at a later date.
