Vennah Markeita Erwin Bullard, 69, of Newton died Friday, June 24, 2022 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with a private interment at Travelers Rest Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. Rev. Malcolm Parker and Dana Simpson will officiate.

Born June 17, 1953 in Piedmont, AL, Mrs. Bullard was the daughter of the late William Thomas Erwin and Emily Dean Williams Erwin. She was married to the late Hershel Arthur Bullard. Mrs. Bullard had a psychology degree. She was the former counselor and county supervisor at the State of Georgia Albany Area Mental Health from October 1978-December 1996. She served as the former mayor of Newton and was a member of Newton Baptist Church. Mrs. Bullard was preceded in death by sisters, Emely Erwin Fortenberry and Kaylor Erwin Martin.

Survivors include a daughter, Vanessa Bullard Kurtz (Doug) of Albany; a brother, Tommy Erwin of Cullman, AL; a brother-in-law, Jerry Swindle of Cullman, AL; three grandchildren, Landon Samples, Ireland Kurtz, and Emerald Kurtz; a niece, Lydia Burch (Tim) of Newton; several other nieces and nephews; and best friend and fur baby, Mr. Lucky.

The family will receive friends following the service.
