WADSWORTH - Jerry A. "Bear" Halliwell, 78, of Wadsworth, formerly of Rittman, went home to Heaven to be with his loving wife, Barbara, on her birthday, March 9, 2020, following a brief illness at Summa Barberton Hospital.
He was born May 20, 1941 in Wadsworth to the late Robert and Beulah (Hickman) Halliwell and was a life resident of Rittman.
Jerry graduated from Rittman High School in the class of 1959. Following graduation, he attended trade school for carpentry. He was a self-employed carpenter and built many homes in the area.
He married the love of his life, Barbara, on December 29, 1962 and they were married for 53 years. She preceded him in death May 16, 2015.
Jerry was a member of the Wadsworth Eagles 2117, Rittman Moose Lodge 860 and Wadsworth V.F.W. post 170. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, playing cards and carpentry.
Surviving is his son, Allen (Kim) Halliwell of Rittman; daughters, Peggy Faigley of Rochester Hills, MI and Amy (Rob) Hirnikl of Green; grandchildren, Lindsey, Michael and Quincy Halliwell, Hali and Chance Faigley and Spencer and Grant Hirnikl; brothers, Jim (Frann) Halliwell of Westerville and Jon (Laurie) Halliwell of Creston; sisters, Judy (David) Graves of Rittman, Jane (Tom) Reese of Norton and Joan (David) McCord of Buford, GA; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Barbara Halliwell.
Celebration of life services will be announced at a later date.
