A graduate of the International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Patricia went on to study at Duke University. A constant advocate for the underserved and underprivileged, she was the exclusive director for the Wayne County Mental Health Association. Then, she became the coordinator of the crisis intervention hotline for the Wayne County Mental Health Center until her retirement. For twenty-five years, she assisted children in the Goldsboro area through the Guardian Ad Litem Program. Maintaining a profession that allowed her to care for people during crisis situations, Patricia's care and compassion was evident to all with whom she worked and served.
As a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, she fulfilled her membership vows through her prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Utilizing the talents she possessed, she played in the Handbell Choir and ministered to the needs of congregants as a Stephen Minister. She studied scripture and strengthened her spiritual walk through membership in the J. Paul Sunday School Class.
With a good memory and a knack for card games, Patricia spent many hours playing bridge. For over 50 years, she maintained membership in her bridge club and looked forward to every opportunity to play. Gifted with an ear for music which was inherited from her father, Patricia could sit at her piano and play any tune that came to mind, no sheet music needed.
Known as "Bah" to her only grandson, Martin, Patricia offered boundless love and constant attention to him. He was indeed the apple of her eye. The love of her family and her church were evident in the way she prioritized her life around them.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church followed by a service to celebrate Patricia's life at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Interment will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
