Michael was born on June 11th, 1949 in Asheville, North Carolina, and was the son of Virgil Lewis Meadows and Meekie Elizabeth Messer Meadows, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired jailer with the Buncombe County, North Carolina Jail.
Michael served 2 tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps, and served 6 years in the active reserves. He was a member of VFW Post # 7098 in Richmond, Kentucky. Michael was a life member of Hominy Lodge # 491 A.F. & A.M. in Candler, NC, past master of Mount Hermon Lodge # 118 A.F. & A.M. in Asheville, NC, and an honorary member of several other masonic lodges.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Gayle Brendle Meadows, of Richmond; one son, Michael Baxter Meadows, of Richmond; two brothers, Theodore Meadows and Virgil Lee Meadows, both of North Carolina; one sister, Georgia Woody, of North Carolina; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his infant son Jesse Lewis Meadows, three brothers, John Scott Meadows, Jack Meadows, and Thomas Meadows; and one sister, Sarah Ann Smith.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County with Bro. John Doss officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond, Kentucky.
