David Thomas Abbott

Age 43, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2008.

David was born in Wilmington, DE. He attended St. Thomas Grade School and A. I. DuPont High School. He was employed as a bricklayer for CMS United Inc., and for several years operated the family business Gene Abbott and Sons.

He was preceded in death by his loving grandmother and grandfather, Victoria and William Perry, his grandfather/hero, Gene H. Abbott, Sr., and his aunt, Eleanor. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Abbott; daughter, Lauren; son, Brian; and stepchildren, Dave and Danielle. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Dorothy, and her husband, Don Halverson, and father, Gene, and his wife, Regina Marsilii Abbott; his loving grandmother, Ann T. Abbott; brother, Gene Abbott III; sister, Michele (Shelly) Abbott; his nephews, Ricky Bromwell, Michael, Steven and Logan Abbott; aunts and uncles, Ray, Marge, Dennis and Richard Abbott, Ann Pinghera, Jeanette and Jim Brown, Bill and Donna Perry; cousins and many friends. David was an exceptional father and his life was about being with his family. He will be best remembered for his handsome smile. David will forever be missed by his family, employers, co-workers, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima, 801 North DuPont Hwy., New Castle on Friday, January 25th at 11 am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm. Interment in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
