Coroner's Inquest.—Coroner Delavau was called to hold an inquest, yesterday, upon the body of Susannah Abrams, wife of James Abrams, at No. 1154 North Fifth street, in the Nineteenth ward, who died suddenly, under circumstances that occasioned various surmises. A post mortem examination was made by Dr. S. P. Brown, and after hearing his testimony the jury rendered a verdict that death was the effect of indigestion, causing inflammation of the bowels.
—Public Ledger (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Wednesday, January 7, 1857, p. 1

Died,
On the 4th inst., SUSANNAH S., wife of Joseph Abrams, and daughter of John and the late Elizabeth Lukens, aged 36 years and 11 months. (Washington, D.C., daily papers please copy.)
Short was thy suffering time
And wondrous thy reward—
Thy soul has gone unstained by crime
To stand before thy Lord.
Farewell, my husband and children dear,
I am not dead but sleeping here;
Prepare for death, for die you must,
And with your wife and mother sleep in dust.
The relatives and friends and those of the family, also Star of Bethlehem Association, No. 20, I. O. P., and Deborah Franklin Council, No. 2, U. D. of A., of which she was a member, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from the residence of her husband, North Fifth street, above Norris, this (Wednesday) afternoon at 1 o'clock—to proceed to Franklin Cemetery, without further notice.
