Jack Paul Land or as his sister Joyce described him, "the most special kid in the whole world" was very unexpectedly called to Heaven on July 4, 2022.
Jack began his remarkable life on June 6, 2015 in Amarillo. He was the first born of two children to his parents, Kirk and Josie Land. He attended City View Elementary School and would have entered the first grade this year. He loved to play sports and liked basketball and soccer. One of his favorite things was watching his cousins run track and on occasion he would get to help Popeye count the laps on the mile and if he was lucky he would get to shoot the gun on the last lap.
He had a love for animals and cared for them well. Whether telling his fishes goodnight or goodbye before he left, caring for his constant canine companion Scouty Boy, feeding animals on the farm or spending time riding his horse Dakota along with Joyce and her horse Lily, he had a kind and gentle spirit with animals and humans alike. Jack loved taking trips in "Big Red" with his dad to the shop to check on cows.
He had a servant's heart even at such an early age. Jack eagerly stepped into the role of big brother when Joyce was born, and she lovingly called him Jacky. He wanted to help in any way he could, from helping with the new baby to opening doors for others, to asking "mom do you need help with anything?" He would help pull weeds, trim branches, and would pitch in anywhere and anytime he was allowed. Jack greeted his parents each day with a "good morning Mom and good morning Dad."
Jack loved everyone and a lot of things, he loved Spiderman, Marvel characters and watching the Texas Tech Red Raiders with his dad. He loved to ride the combine or tractors with grandpa at his farm but Jack had one thing for certain that he did not love…veggies. He was not a fan at all!
He was preceded in death by his Grandma, Marilyn Dudenhoeffer and by his DD, Debe Land.
Jack is survived by his parents, Kirk and Josie Land; by his sister Joyce Marie Land; by Grandpa, Mike Dudenhoeffer; by Popeye, Steve Land; by his great grandparents, Arlene Dudenhoeffer, Jerri Gerber and Bill and Helen Land; his uncles, Wesley Land and his wife Sarah, Mark Land and his wife Callie, Trey Dudenhoeffer and his wife Jessica and Braden Dudenhoeffer; his cousins Macklynn, Carly and Leah Land and "Baby Michael" Dudenhoeffer; by his best friend Scout; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins and others that loved and were fortunate enough to know him.
The rosary will be said on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. A visitation will follow at 6:30 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church in Panhandle. The Rev. Josh Light will officiate. Burial will follow at the Panhandle Cemetery in Panhandle, Texas.
