Father & mother were Peter Minor Clinton and Sarah Adams Clinton. The family moved to Rusk County, Texas when Thomas was about 9 years old.
On October 27, 1874 he married Sarah Amelia Cyphers in Rusk County, Texas. Four children were born to the couple in Rusk County: Mary Etta (1875-1967); David Milton (1877- ); George Isom (1880- 1937); William Olin (1882- 1941).
On April 1, 1885 the family moved to Mulberry Canyon, about 10 miles south of Merkel, Texas where three more children were born - Samuel Benjamin (1885 - 1952); Mattie Viola (1891- 1976); John Ivan (1896-).
It was truly frontier living at the time with panthers, wildcats, rattle snakes and outlaws to contend with.
In 1905 Thomas acquired a section of land (640 ac) east of the Cap Rock in Martin County, Texas. Two of his sons filed for 160 ac each joining him on the south. In 1906 all the family except Etta and Milton who were both married moved to the new homestead in Martin County.
