Eldridge Gerry Doubleday was born on December 7, 1889 in Cheatham County, Tennessee, the son of George Doubleday (1856–1928) and Susie A (Bell) Doubleday (1856–1938). {His Death Certificate has him born on January 5, 1891, but his cemetery marker has the year as 1889, AND both his World War I Draft Registration Card and his Delayed Certificate of Birth have him born on December 7, 1889.}

He had been married to Mary Fuller Love (1892–1983), and she was the daughter of James Randle Love (1859–1930) and Mary A (Hooper) Love (1861–1935). Eldridge and Mary later divorced.

A salesman for an advertising company and living at 2715 Oakland Avenue in Nashville, Eldridge was 74 years old when he had a heart attack and died at home on December 9, 1963. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Suzanne Doubleday of 1503 Cedar Lane as the informant.
