Henry Joseph Byrd, an avid golfer, and lover of New Orleans red beans and rice, passed away on June 30, 2022, at the age of 85.
He is survived by his children: Aaron Byrd (Leonora), Wendy Bowser, Sandy Byrd-Maldonado (Wayne), Zina Mays (Jeff, Jr.), Mark Byrd, Carol Foots Johnson, Tyrone Foots (Cynthia), Patricia Robertson (Jackie); a brother-in-law Wilbert Parker, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, four siblings: Mercedes Gaines, Sheila Harris, Angela Diggs-Fernandez, Marvin Burd (Gloria) and Ervin Burd; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Byrd, children: Pamela Walker, Roger Foots, Kevin Foots Sr; great granddaughter, Alexea Simone Byrd, his parents, Octavia and Henry Byrd, sister, Lois Trevigne, and brother, Sherman McCaskill.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Friday, July 8, 2022, for 10:00 a.m. at St. Raymond & St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Avenue, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Reverend Stanley Ihuoma, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery #3, 143 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119.
