Little Gerrie was a Dutch civilian war casualty of World War II. During a lull in bombardments on the city, Gerrie was taken out for a walk by her older sister. The older girl was just scooping her little sister up in her arms when a shell detonated, spraying shrapnel everywhere. Gerrie was struck and killed in her sister's arms.
