Raymond Edward Hemmer, 39, of Chelan was accidentally drowned Tuesday morning when a truck in which he was hauling snow to be dumped into Lake Chelan slipped into the lake.
Born February 8, 1917 at Lindsay, Nebraska, he spent his early life there. He enlisted in the US Navy in March 1942 and served overseas in the Asiatic area for 38 months. He was discharged October 15, 1945.
May 29, 1944 he was married to Irene Goedde at Chelan.
He is survived by his widow, Irene, his father, Matt Hemmer of Elgin, Nebraska, one son, Ronald Ray, and one daughter, Julie Ann at home; two brothers, Edward Hemmer of North Platte, Nebraska and Clarence Hemmer of Wyman, Nebraska and two sisters, Mrs. Leo Lobking of Humphrey, Nebraska and Mrs. Glenn Schnell of Olympia. One brother, Elmer, was killed in Belgium during World War II.
Services were held Wednesday.
