Son of the late Thomas C. Vickers and Lelia F. Vickers, he was born on July 28, 1936, in Washington, D.C. Tom grew up in Silver Spring where he graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. He worked briefly at the U.S. Geological Survey and American Airlines, but his career was with the Washington Post in advertising where he served from 1963 until retirement in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Judy M. Vickers, son David Lane Vickers, numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
Tom was preceded in death by son Gregory John Vickers and sister Doris Lektorich.
On Sunday, February 20 viewing will be held from noon to 1 followed immediately by services at Pumphrey Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Ave., Rockville, MD 20850.
Interment will be held Monday, February 21 at 10:45 at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery,
3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD 20722.
