Jim, the son of Ray and Mae Jochum, was born in Sutherland on September 12, 1944. He grew up working on the family farm and graduated from Sutherland High School. Jim continued farming and later owned the Wallace Lounge and sold real estate for Gothenburg Realty.
In 1968 Jim married Lynne Rector at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland and they made their home on the farm. The couple later divorced. Jim was then united in marriage to Sally Forrester and she passed away in 2017.
Jim Loved animals, especially birds, shooting guns and doing yard work.
Along with his wife, Sally, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mae Jochum; his brothers, Billy and Raymond; his daughter, Johna Morvant, and grandchildren, Peyton and Parker Rasmussen; and special friend, Tom Yost.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Cotton Yost (Rod) of North Platte; his sister, Maryann Truex of Colorado; grandchildren, Rylie (Adam) Dobesh and Jace Jochum; great-grandson, Bennett; Tom's wife, Janice Yost of Maxwell; and other family.
In keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
