Margaret Arlene Dillow Tibbs, "Granny", 81, of Madison Heights, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Dennis Keith Tibbs.

Born February 23, 1926, in Bland County, Va., she was a daughter of the late William Arthur Dillow and Mary Hanshew Dillow; she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Billy, Harold and Gene (Skip) Dillow. She attended Church of God of Prophecy and loved Pastor Gary and little Alma Vernon. She made many good friends during her stay here in Lynchburg. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and could be seen out with her red and purple hat enjoying each meeting.

Margaret "Granny", as she was affectionately known, is survived by two children, a son, Walter L. Tibbs and wife, Doris, of Bland; her daughter and caregiver, Mary Jane T. Chapman and husband, J.D., of Madison Heights; a sister, Betty D. Penley and husband, Robert, of Bland; five grandchildren, Tonya Anders and husband, Brad, of Roanoke, Shawn Chapman and fiancée, Connie Garrett, of Madison Heights, Crystal Sage and husband Steve, of Bland, Hope Chapman and fiancé, Skip Johnson, of Matthews and Stacy Grady and husband, Travis, of Bland and eight great-grandchildren; a special niece, Zareda Ward, many other nieces and nephews; six sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of Mary Chapman.

A visitation will also be held in her hometown of Bland from 5-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Highland Bland Funeral Chapel, Main St. in Bland, a funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Gary Vernon.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Bland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24501 or to Church of God of Prophecy, 2600 Garfield Ave. Lynchburg, VA 24501.
