VIRGINIA MAE HANSMANN
December 5, 1923 - July 9, 2022

Virginia Mae Hansmann, age 98, of Zelienople, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, while under the care of Passavant Retirement Center. Born December 5, 1923 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William H. Hansmann and Matilda Reitz Hansmann. Virginia was affectionately called "Aunt Wid" by her family. She worked as a teacher for many years at Pittsburgh Weil PreK-5, a public school in the Hill District. She was a lifelong and devoted member of First English Evangelical Lutheran Church on Grant Street in Pittsburgh, where she was baptized and confirmed. At First Lutheran Church, Virginia was a foundational member of the Parish Choir, with whom she sang for many years, served as a Sunday School teacher, and served on numerous committees. Upon her retirement from teaching, she served as the secretary for Smithfield United Church of Christ, downtown. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for the zeal of her faith and the kindness of her heart.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother, William (Norma) Hansmann; her nieces and nephews, Eric, Kristin, Karin, and Kurt; and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219. She will be laid to rest privately at Allegheny County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Virginia's honor to the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, "Reverence My Sanctuary" campaign, 615 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SVCS., INC., 130 Wisconsin Ave./P.O. Box 2155, Cranberry Twp., PA 16066.
