He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte (Hertzler) Yeingst; and his son, Lt. Peter J. Yeingst. He is survived by his loving daughter Priscilla Hancock; daughter-in-law Katherine Y. Woodland; grandson Randal Yeingst; granddaughter Geralyn Brunton and three great-grandchildren: Emily, Allison and David.
Woody was active in Boy Scouts from his youth and his fondest Scout activity was attending the Scout Jamboree in Valley Forge with his son, Peter. He was the owner and operator of Woody's Sandwich Shop in Elverson for many years, a gathering place for local residents. He joined Elverson Lions Club in 1942 and served all offices including district governor 14-P from 1963 to 1964. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 1967 and lifetime membership in 1966. He was chief of the Elverson Fire Company, served on Elverson Borough Council for 16 years and was treasurer of Elverson Methodist Church for 12 years. Woody was a courageous man, devoted to his family. He was active and upbeat through all of his many adversities. He will be missed by his many friends and especially by his daughter.
