Graveside services were held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd at Waurika Cemetery, Waurika, Oklahoma, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. A son of the late Thelma (Pinnick) and Herman Schaffner, Sam was born on July 8, 1950, in Waurika, Oklahoma. Sam was raised in Waurika, Oklahoma and lived most of his adulthood in the Wichita Falls, Texas, area. Sam played football while attending Southeast University of Oklahoma. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Air Force in a pact with his best friend Ronnie Goodwin. He was a jet engine mechanic and earned his pilot's license, which he later used as a private pilot. He spent two years at Halliburton, and later worked at PPG for a number of years. In his spare time, he started his own business with his wife. With business booming, C & S Satellites (later C & S Fun Center) became his full-time profession, expanding to include the sale of personal watercraft, four-wheelers, side-by-sides, and motorcycles. When Sam wasn't working, he loved to spend his time outdoors and tinkering in his shop. He had a passion for racing personal watercraft, a love he shared with his son, Shawn. He loved his family fiercely, spending 52 years with the love of his life, Connie. He also especially loved spending time with his grandson, Cayden. Sam was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Connie Schaffner of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter Shannon Gibbs and husband David Gibbs of Indian Shores, Florida; son Shawn Schaffner and wife Jana of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandson Cayden Bryce of Indian Shores, Florida; brother Jimmy Schaffner of Austin, Texas; sister Joanna Dyer of Waurika, Oklahoma; and sister Becky Duncan of Middleburg, Florida.
