Cassius was the oldest child of Andrew and Julia (Walters) Balsinger. His Father died when he was 20. Little is known of his young life. He married Gladys Moran and they had 3 children: Myrtle, John, and Dorothy. After the death of Gladys, he married Edythe Boswell, around 1964. While he died in Florida, it appears from his obituary that he was sent back to Maryland to be buried in Ceder Hill, with family.
