She was a daughter of Jacob Andrew Cron, (1812-1883), and Louesa Sylvia (Steffey) Cron, (1820-1907), both buried in the Ebenezer Cem., Jefferson Co., IL. Her 1st husband, (1860), was James Stipe, (1842-1865). He died at Chattanooga in the Civil War and was brought back for burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN.

Mary's 2nd husband, (md May 9, 1866 Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN), was James Wylie Pirtle, (b.Aug.8,1837 Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN - d,Dec.31, 1904 Haddon, Sullivan Co., IN), [Find a grave # 24199773 ], who is also buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Carlisle, Sullivan Co., IN.
