Jerry H. Barriger, age 91, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region. The son of the late Howard and Irma (Haske) Barriger, Jerry was born on July 21, 1931 in Akron.

He served his country as an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On September 4, 1954 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Jerry was united in marriage to the former Lorraine M. Wlodarczak.

Jerry was a journeyman electrician, working for many companies over the years and owning his own business, ABC Controls. He enjoyed golfing and was a founding member at Bay Valley Resort, where he was still working as a starter and golfing as much as he could. He recorded three hole-in-ones in his lifetime. Jerry was an honorary lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council #4102, St. Stan's A.C. and a lifelong member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.

Jerry is survived by his wife Lorraine, and together they raised seven children, Barbara (Patrick) Kerbleski, Steven (Karen) Barriger, John Barriger, Robert (Elizabeth) Barriger, William (Susan) Barriger, Andrew Barriger, and Martin (Karen) Barriger; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; his sister, Jaclyn Bonderenko; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Gordon Hartwick; his brother, James (Ione) Barriger; brother-in-law, Clint Bonderenko; a grandson, Evan Barriger; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Fr. Dale Orlik presiding. The Rite of Committal and Military Honors, conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council, will follow at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a KofC Bible Presentation at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Vigil Service and Rosary prayers. Visiting will also be at the church on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish or Salvation Army. Gordon Hartwick, Commander USNR ret., 86,of Caro, formerly of Cass City, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City.
He was born Nov. 26, 1920 in Novesta Township, the son of the late Fred and Olive (Gibbard) Hartwick.
He married Irma Haske Barriger in 1943. She died in 1993.
Hartwick was a Cass City High School graduate. He entered the U.S. Naval Reserve Dec. 13, 1942. He served in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring Feb. 28, 1971. He was a member of the Fairgrove VFW Post #7486. He was also involved with the Masons.
Hartwick is survived by 2 children; Clint (Jaclyn) Bondarenko and Jerry (Lorraine) Barriger; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry (Harriet) Hartwick of Cass City.
He was preceded in death by a son, James (Ione) Barriger; and a grandson, David Barriger.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 16, at Collon Funeral Home, Caro, with Pastor Wendy Orzel, hospice chaplain, officiating.
Burial was in the Demorest Cemetery, Akron.
Military honors were provided by the U.S. Navy and the Fairgrove VFW Post #7486.
Memorials may be made to Home and Hospice Advantage, Cass City, or the charity of the donor's choice.
