WILLIAM GEORGE HANSMANN
June 12, 1928 - July 24, 2022

William George Hansmann, age 94, of Cranberry Twp,. passed into eternity on Sunday, July 24, 2022 while under the care of Sherwood Oaks, where he was a resident. Born June 12, 1928 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William H. Hansmann and Matilda Reitz Hansmann. Bill was a graduate of South Hills High School in Pittsburgh and Thiel College in Greenville, PA. He had a successful 38-year career with Parke-Davis as a professional pharmaceutical sales representative. During that time, Bill and his wife, Norma, raised their family in Indiana, PA, and became deeply rooted in the mission and ministry of Zion Lutheran Church. Upon retirement, they returned to the Pittsburgh area, where they rejoined the parish in which they were baptized, confirmed, met, and married, First English Evangelical Church in the City of Pittsburgh. The innumerable councils, boards, and committees of organizations on which Bill served included, but are not limited to, Lutheran Senior Life, Thiel College, the South Hills High School Reunion Committee, and perhaps most affectionately, the Social Ministry Committee of First Lutheran Church. Above all, Bill cherished the family relationship with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him "granddad". He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 68 years, Norma Nemenz Hansmann; his four children, Eric (Cheryl) Hansmann, Kristin (Bob) Forbes, Karin (Scott) Cheslar, and Kurt (Amy) Hansmann; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bill also leaves behind a shining example of how a deep abiding faith in the power of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion can impact the life of one person. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Mae Hansmann. Friends will be received on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SVCS., INC., 130 Wisconsin Ave./ P.O. Box 2155, Cranberry Twp., PA 16066. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219. He will be laid to rest privately at Allegheny County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill's honor to the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, "Reverence My Sanctuary" campaign, 615 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
