John C. Nease, age 28 years, enlisted and mustered in as private of Captain Charles W. Long and Knyphausen Geer's Company A, 1st Battalion of Mountaineers, California Volunteers, at Eureka, Humboldt County, California, April 18, 1863. He was promoted sergeant from the date of his enlistment. Sergeant Nease mustered out at Fort Humboldt, California, April 25, 1865.
