Alexander W Richards was the son of William Richards and Dicey Cobb-Richards. He married Anna Adaline Finley in 1847 and they had 11 children together. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a Baptist preacher.

Alexander W. Richards was licensed for the ministry in 1861 and Ordained for the Ministry in 1868 at Four Mile Baptist Church.

A W Richards died at Bartow County GA. They were taking his body to Tate to bury with his wife at Cool Springs but the wagon kept bogging down in the mud. When they got to Jerusalem Church they decided to stop and they buried him in the cemetery there near the side of the road.
