"A Former Senator Dead --
Wyatt Wistar Miller, one of Salem's oldest business men, died on Tuesday night, aged 75, after suffering with paralysis several weeks. He was born in Mannington Township in 1828. He was the superintendent of the Safe Harbor (PA) Iron Works for several years, was one of the incorporatoes of the Cambria Iron Works, Elizabeth and Bethlehem Iron Companies, but abandoned the iron business and returned to Mannington where he engaged in farming in 1867 and continued until fourteen years ago.
In 1885 he was elected to the State Senate over John Elwell, Democrat, by 3 majority. He was president of the Salem National Bank from 1886 until last spring when he resigned owing to failing health."
