Judith Ann Hoag, 54, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at her home.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery. Memorials may be made to King's Harvest No-Kill Animal Shelter.
Judy was born October 27, 1967 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of Roger & Joyce (Hess) Cornmesser. She was a 1986 graduate of North Scott High School. Judy was united in marriage to Jeff Peer on October 3, 1986 and later to Scott Charles Hoag on February 11, 2017 in Wapello, Iowa with family rededication ceremony later that year on November 25 at Old St. Ann's in Long Grove and reception at the Old Library in DeWitt. Scott and Judy were graduating classmates who came together while planning their 30th class reunion.
Judy was employed last at Latham Pool in DeWitt, and many years prior at HNI Corporation in Muscatine, as well as 8 years at Hy-Vee in Davenport. She also was employed as a cook for a nursing home in Wapello.
Judy had a huge heart and would do almost anything for the loves of her life, including her husband Scott, children Samantha and Wes, grandson Henry and fur babies Sophie and Ronnie.
Judy also loved the very simple things, like the flowers in her garden, she loved pizza (her "frozen cardboard"), a large "crunchy pop" from Casey's, Christian and Country music and ice in her wine. She loved long walks, getting together with friends, loved treasure hunting at Good Will, watching her NCIS and cooking shows, and she loved rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs with family and friends. Judy had a love for sunflowers and pinwheels in her flower gardens.
Judy has an extensive snowman collection and loved decorating for Christmas.
Judy had a real talent at making flowers for weddings. She loved doing anything arts & crafts, including memory books.
Judy had a very strong work ethic, she took pride in her work and loved to see things carried out to perfection and completion. She worked very hard at keeping a very clean house and took a lot of pride in that.
Judy loved the Lord and attended Cornerstone Assembly of God in DeWitt: her church family she so embraced, and was involved in the Women's Group.
Judy had an infectious and keen sense of humor; her wit was unmatched. She had a way to bring a smile to anyone's face.
Judy had a wonderful passion for homeless animals. If money wasn't an issue, she'd adopt every one of them!
Judy is proud to have completed two Bix races!
