Kermitt Arvid Odell Aune, 79, of Longview, passed away Sunday, September 19th, 2004 at home surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born October 7, 1924 in Fort Ransom, North Dakota where he attended school and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

He worked in the construction field until he enlisted in the Army in 1950 in which he served until July, 1956. In 1957 he married his wife of 47 years, Carol Johnson. They had 6 children and in 1967, he and his family moved to Longview, Washington where he become employed at Weyerhaeuser as a boiler fireman until his retirement in 1983 after 20 years of employment.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the AWPPW.

Kermitt will be remembered as being a loving and caring man with a quiet persona, a great sense of humor, and the man who could fix about anything.

He will be gratly missed by his family, firends and grandchildren whom he loved and adored deeply. Some of his greatest joys in life were attending his grandkids activities, fishing, going to garage sales, collecting antique tools and spending time with his much beloved and faithful companion, his dog Chang.

After his retirement he helped hiw wife with the home daycare in which she had ran for 26 years, so he was fondly known as "Grandpa" to hundreds of children's lives he had touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers - Gordan, Maurice, Carl, Jim, Ron, Don, and son-in-law, Tim Welsh.

Kermit is survived by his loving wife, Carol, his 6 children and 2 sons-in-law; Diane, Pamela Welsh, Kevin, Marilyn & (Tom) Powers, Cheryl & (Tony) Bohlig, Greg, and 14 grandchildren.

Viewing will be Thursday, September 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Columbia Funeral HOme. Services are being held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Kessler Blvd., Friday, September 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Longview Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m.
