TISHOMINGO -- Services for Ivery J. Melton, 95, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Tishomingo Cemetery.

Born July 5, 1905, at Stratford, to James A. and Georgia Melton, he died Nov. 11, 2000, at a local nursing facility. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera May Melton, on March 25, 1992; one son, Troy Lee Melton; one daughter, Alda Courtney; four brothers and two sisters.

Melton lived in Oklahoma City for many years where he worked for the Armour Meat Packing Company. He retired in 1961 and moved to Tishomingo. Melton ran a small swap shop from his home for a few years until his health required moving to a nursing facility. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Viola Starks, Houston, Alma Baker, Shawnee, and Nevena Beck, Moore; three brothers, Melvin and Reuben Melton, both of Oklahoma City, and Wesley Melton, Torrance, Calif.; two sisters, Thelma Johnson and Sadie Jones, both of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Service.
