He was born June 19, 1919 in Jamestown, NY. He served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. Don coordinated the Hospitality Ministry at Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was an usher for over 25 years. He was also captain of his neighborhood watch and was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Jane Olander; daughter, Donna M. Mallard; son, William P. Olander (Linda) of Gainesville; grandchildren, Donald, Michael, Edward A. Jr., and Todd Mallard, and Christina O. Rodenwoldt of Gainesville; 11 great grandchildren; and sister Beverly Foote of Jamestown, NY.
