Margaret Mobley was involved with Reuben Perkins then living on Captina Creek in Washington Twp, Belmont County Ohio, a married man. The two conceived a child out of wedlock.
On two separate occasions, Margaret filed lawsuits against Reuben Perkins which resulted in payments to support her daughter, Mary Louise Perkins.
The last of these lawsuits was concluded with a "Sheriffs sale" held Tuesday, November 15, 1859. Items listed as property seized and sold at the sale were: Yoke of work cattle, 23 heads of hogs and one bay mare.
