Travis J. Akers (68) passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was a member of Chandler's Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, watching baseball and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Services are 2 pm Sunday, May 29, 2022 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with James Bowens and Bro. Tracy Arnold officiating. Graveside services will follow in Mackey's Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2 pm Sunday in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
Travis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie Akers of Pearl; his son, Kevin Akers (Shannon) of Pearl; his grandchildren, Harley Davis, Brodie Akers, Faith, Abbie & Bree Ketteringham and Trayce & London Clark; his great-grandson, Axel Davis; his brother, Sherman Akers of CA ; his sisters, Myrtle Bridges of Booneville, Emma Akers of Baldwyn, Frances Yarber of Booneville and Annie Hood (Ed) of Pearl and his adopted son, Ronnie Clark (Rachel) of Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Houston and Gladys Hunt Akers; his brothers, Oscar and Houston Dexter Akers and his sisters, Mary Day and Janice Wheelington.
Pallbearers are JE Wheelington, Joey Wheelington, Trey Wheelington, Ed Hood, Ronnie Clark and Matt Henderson.
Honorary pallbearers are Earl Wheelington and Houston Bridges.
