Born April 4, 1948, in Wenatchee, he lived with his family in Chelan where he had been active in Little Legue and Boy Scouts. As a teenager he moved with his parents to Seattle and graduated from Evergreen High School in 1966.
Later he moved to Salt Lake City where he formed a lightweight concrete construction company called Foam Crete.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Lynn Ansel, Seattle; one son, Christopher Ansel. Seattle; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard P Ansel Sr., Seattle; one brother, Lloyd Ansel, Seattle; two sisters, Jane Janes, Woodinville, and Pattie Luttermoser, Kirkland; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kent, Chelan.
