He grew up and graduated in Roosevelt, Oklahoma. After graduating he entered the U.S. Army for two years. He would later retired twice from the Snyder Farmers Co-Op after over fifty-five years of employment.
Alvis was the beloved husband of Shirley Harrison for Sixty-four and a half years. He was a long-time member of the Roosevelt Church of Christ; he served as an elder and was truly a Godly man. He enjoyed reading Louis Lamar, but most importantly he loved being a father, grandpa and great papaw.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home, children Vicki, Gene and wife Karen, Denise and husband Dustin, grandchildren April, Candi, Josh, Corey, and Myka, great grandchildren Marissa, Brodie, Cruz, Caitlynn, Dana, Brynley, Landan, Katelyn, James and Hunter, sister-in-law Susie Hollis, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Alvis is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Minnie Harrison, daughter Roxanne, three sisters, five brothers, son-in-law Mike Burns, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Wes and Wanda Perry and William and Pearl Bush.
Public Viewing for Alvis will begin Friday, August 5, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.at Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home located at 1400 W. Main in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. (580)-846-9018.
Services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, 10:00 A.M. at the Roosevelt Church of Christ located at E. 1st and S. Main Sts. in Roosevelt, Oklahoma with Ron Suiter officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain Park Cemetery.
