Allen Edgar Hinton, 93, of Hackberry passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Allen was born on June 26, 1929, in Lake Charles, LA to Edgar and Annie Hinton. Allen proudly served his country serving for 4 years during the Korean War in the United States Navy and later went into a 27-year career with the Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office. He enjoyed the great outdoors hunting, fishing, and working cattle along with various other adventures of building many things with his son. One of his greatest accomplishments as a cowboy and pickup man was serving 25 years with his wife on the National High School Rodeo Association and Louisiana High School Rodeo Association as National President and director of Louisiana High School Rodeo Association. Allen was inducted into the Louisiana High School Rodeo Hall of Fame as well as the PRCA and PBR Hall of Fame.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, David Hinton and wife Beth, Shayne Gremillion and husband Gordon, and Chris "Chicken" Hebert and wife Shannon; 8 grandchildren, Brad Hinton, Lindy Babaz, Jana Hebert, Britni Farr, Ty Alexander, Annie Boudreaux, Jon Wayne Hebert, and Hunter Allen Hebert; 27 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Freddine Hinton; grandson, Grant Gremillion, one granddaughter, Kody Paige Hebert; and 6 siblings; and also, his parents.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday. August 9, 2022, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM rosary on Monday, August 8, 2022, at the New Hackberry Community Center. The visitation will resume from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the New Hackberry Community Center in preparation for a procession to services at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be at Hackberry Community Cemetery. Fr. Arvind Minz, HGN will officiate services.
