Ronald Steven Testa
JANUARY 8, 1951 – JULY 21, 2022

Ronald S. Testa, long-time missionary to Mexico, died unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep on July 21st, 2022 at the age of 71 in Marietta, Georgia while visiting his son.

Ron is survived by his wife, Debra Testa (Oaks); his children, Angela, Caleb and Stella Testa; and his granddaughters Anabela and Alena.

He is predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline June, his father, Paul Testa, and his mother, Stella Testa.

Ron was born in St. Paul Minnesota on January 8th, 1951.

He attended Johnson High School on the East Side of St. Paul and was an avid hockey fan and music lover. At the age of 15 he started a band called The Trolls with his brother Paul Testa, cousin Richie Testa and good friend Tom Stella, and they played popular songs of the 60's including British rock groups like The Walker Brothers, Monkees and Beatles, American rock groups like James Gang, Doobie Brothers and Jefferson Starship, and 60's soul such as Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and J.J. Jackson, and many others.

He played guitar and became a very skilled and intuitive musician and singer, with his soulful vocals and cool vibes, and eventually used his talents to play Christian music in churches for decades throughout the U.S. and Mexico.

He also would perform worship duets and lovely harmonies with his wife Debbie.

He was a strategic thinker and very good at playing chess. He got his first motorcycle as a teenager, and absolutely loved riding. He rode extensively in his younger years, and although he had to give up motorcycle riding to go to the mission field, he was able to take it up again later in life and went on many rides with his son and family.

He could name any classic car's statistics off the top of his head as well. He loved meeting and talking to people, and he would happily strike up conversations with anyone he met or happened to cross paths with.

Ron met his sweetheart Debbie at a prayer meeting, and they were married on May 3rd, 1975.

He was a devoted husband and father, and he loved his family deeply. They bought a home in St. Paul, and he worked at 3M as a printer before feeling the calling to move his family to Mexico to become missionaries and minister to the indigenous peoples of Mexico.

He was a deeply spiritual man, and fearless in his passion for bringing the word of God far and wide to the remote areas of Southern Mexico. He also traveled extensively and preached at churches throughout the U.S., and also took missions trips to Central America, South America and Europe.

Ron will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

A Celebration of Ron's Life is scheduled for 11:00 am with doors open at 10 am for gathering of friends and family on Saturday August 27th at River of God Church – 2490 7th Avenue East, North St. Paul, MN 55109 US.
