George Douglas Monical, 73, Niantic, died Wednesday at the Wabash Employes hospital here. He had been in ill health for the last year. Mr. Monical was born in Louisville, Nov. 18, 1860 and married Miss Mary Belle Shelton, 9/16/1881 in Louisville. She died in Feb.1924. He lived in Homer for a time and was a member of the Methodist church there. He had resided with his daughter in Niantic for 35 years. He was employed by the Wabash for 46 years, retiring two years ago.
He leaves four children, C. E. Monical,Decatur, Fred D. Monical, Buffalo, Mrs. Edith Marshall,Niantic, Mrs. L. Bissey, Harristown. There are nine grandchildren. He also leaves a brother and two sisters, C.C.Monical, Niantic, Mrs. Hannah Brooks,Springfield and Mrs. Silas Moats, Alexander.
The body was taken to the home of Mrs. Marshall in Niantic Thursday and friends may call there.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm Friday in the Niantic Methodist church. Burial will be in Harristown cemetery.
