Heart Attack Is Fatal To Parkville Minister, 52.
He Became Pastor of Community Church There Last Month-Recipient of an Honorary Degree.
Dr. Rolland David Snuffer, 52, who was installed last month as pastor of the Parkville Community church, died of a heart attack last night at the home in Parkville.
Dr. Snuffer, a sergeant in the First World War and a chaplain in World War II, was the colonel in charge of chaplains associated with the Civil Air patrol.
An honorary degree of doctor of divinity was conferred upon him at Missouri Valley college, Marshall, Mo. About 100 persons attended a reception for him Sunday at the Parkville church. He began the pastorate in April.
Dr. Snuffer was born in Foster, Mo., and was reared in Kansas City. After World War I he completed high school and college at the old Missouri Valley academy, Marshall, predecessor of the college. He attended the McCormick Theological seminary, Chicago.
Before World War II he held pastorates in Wichita and Iola, Kas., and Mt. Vernon, Ia. He was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood and Camp Crowder, Mo., and Ft. Warren, Wyo., in the war.
The next three years he read poetry on a Denver radio program billed as "Radio's Friendliest Fifteen Minutes." He was associate pastor of the Mountview Presbyterian church, Denver, before moving to Parkville.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruby A. Snuffer; three daughters, Corinnie Snuffer, Carolyn Snuffer and Sylvia Snuffer, and a son, Kenroy Snuffer, of the home, and three brothers, Hugh Snuffer, 107 East Seventy-eighth street; Ross Snuffer, Muskegon, Mich., and Les Snuffer, Wingate, Tex."
