The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fleming Baptist Church with the Rev. William T. Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Park. Mr. Newman was a native of Saluda, S.C., and lived in Augusta most of his life. He was an employee of Sibley Mill, and was a coach for Pee Wee League, Richmond County. He was a member of Fleming Baptist Church and the Friendship No. 7 Sunday School Class.

Callie Ann Orander Newman, three sons, Steve Edward Newman, Atlanta, and Doug W. Newman and Mark H. Newman, Augusta
a brother, Benny C. Newman, Augusta, and a sister, Marie Michaels, Martinez.
Pallbearers will be David Hughes, Charles Carswell, Tony Newman, Ronnie Michaels, Mike Orander, and Albea Stewart.
Members of the Fleming Baptist Church and Slash Room employees of Sibley Mill will be honorary pallbearers.
Elliott and Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road is in charge of arrangements.
