Graduating from Spencer High School in 1953, Clifton liked to share stories of being on the basketball team and being the ping pong champion his senior year. He continued to follow the Spencer Cops and the Owen Valley Patriots basketball teams throughout his life.
At seventeen he joined the National Guard then after two years, enlisted in the United States Air Force. Serving twelve years as a communication specialist, his military journey included being stationed at Randolph Air Base in Texas and had overseas assignments in Germany, England, Turkey, and Okinawa.
After leaving the military, Clifton managed apartments in Arizona then later worked at Otis Elevator. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 604, 45-year member of The American Legion Post 285, and a member of the Moose Lodge in Bloomington.
Clifton enjoyed giving a helping hand to others. He often donated to various organizations and causes because of his belief in helping others less fortunate. In retirement he liked being outdoors and spending his afternoons sitting on the porch talking to his neighbors. Clifton is survived by friends and family.
Funeral services will be at West, Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer, on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be before service from 11:00am-1:00pm.
