A. Gordon Hughes, 56, of Village Crest Apartments, Town of Poughkeepsie, died Friday at Vassar Brothers Hospital.

Mr. Hughes was the service manager for the Bacu Fuel Corporation of Poughkeepsie for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Arlington Post No. 1302, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Marine Corps.

He was born in Highland Falls on Feb. 6, 1922, the son of Charles G. and Evelyn Rose Hughes. He was a graduate of Arlington High School.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jacqueline Bodkins Hughes; his daughter, Cathy Hughes; and his son, Stephen Hughes.

Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 16 Grand Ave., Poughkeepsie. The Arlington Fire Department Engine Company No. 1 will conduct a memorial service Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Dr. M. Lawrence Snow officiating. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
