Fern Michelle Thorton, 63, of Chesterfield, Va., passed away August 10, 2022. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Finney; and mother-in-law, Pauline Thornton. She is survived by her husband, Leon W. Thornton Jr.; father, Curtis Finney Sr., father-in-law, Leon W. Thornton Sr.; children, Danielle, LaKeisha, Thomas, Leon III and Courtney; nine grandchildren; and a host of other family members. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 18, at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 19, at City Church, 9111 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23235, at the Arboretum. Interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery.
