Mrs. Mary E. McNutt, 78, 45 Laurel Drive, Hampton, died Monday in Langley Air Force Base Hospital. Born in Wilmington, N.C., and a Peninsula resident several years, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hampton; a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5500; past district president of the VFW Auxiliary; chairman for 16 years of Virginia Therapy for The Blind; and a charter member of the Non-Commissioned Officers Wives Club at Langley Air Force Base. Survivors include her husband, Thomas McNutt; two daughters, Mrs. Jacqueline Martin of Hampton and Mrs. Lorraine Lockhart of Greenville, S.C.; a son, Harry McNutt of Hampton; her stepmother, Mrs. Louise Justice of Wilmington, N.C.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 7:30 tonight in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home by the Rev. A.D. Goodson of First United Methodist Church of Hampton. The body will then be taken to Burke-Yopp Funeral Home, Wilmington. Burial will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington on Friday.
