Verna Celestina Raduano Ackerman, age 91, of Leesburg, Florida (formerly of Buda, Texas and Winston-Salem, North Carolina), died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at approximately 11:30pm, at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, Florida.

A bright light to all she met, she loved to talk with friends, family, and associates. Daughter to the late Michael and Michaelina Raduano (both Italian immigrants), she grew up in New York City, and, after a short stint working for Eastern Airlines as a telephone representative, she met her future husband, William, who was at that time working as a travel agent. They married, had two sons (William and Michael), then settled in Florida to raise their family, later adding another son (Nicholas) to complete the family of five.

Verna loved to take walks and try new hobbies such as basket weaving, Tai Chi, bread making, and even hosting a nutritional cable television show! Although not a seasoned traveler, one of the highlights of her life was attending the World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 with her sister-in-law Marian.

Verna is survived by her two sons William (and his wife, Debbie) and Nick (and his fiance, Tina); her three grandchildren Nicholas, William, and Kimberly; and, finally, her niece Mary Lynn (and her husband, Wade) and their children Mikhaela and Meleana.

Verna spent her life giving to others even, at times, at great personal cost. She has well earned her everlasting reward.
