She was the fourth of nine children born to Wilford J. and Maud Bliss Allen on November 28, 1913 in Salt Lake City. She married Alfred R. Holfert in the Salt Lake Temple on October 9, 1931. Alfred passed away November 22, 1996 after celebrating 65 years of marriage. They were parents of two children. Mignon was active in the LDS church sharing her accomplished culinary and craft talents throughout the years.
Mignon and Alfred worked for the US Government during their 38 years living in Washington D.C. She managed cafeterias for many important government office buildings and then she did auditing of all the foreign health grants for National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. They moved back to Salt Lake City in 1973 where she was involved in many ladies clubs including Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Upon retirement, Mignon and Alfred traveled around the world but Mignon's favorite place was China which she visited 14 times. She was an accomplished lady who was faced with many health challenges in her teen years but her unconquerable spirit and immeasurable tenacity allowed her to overcome them.
Preceded in death by her husband, sister Ruby (Bicknell) Robbins, brothers W. Douglas, B. Bliss, Marvin G, K. Duane, Ramon A. and Lorin S. Allen. Survived by children Suzanne Mignon (Steve) Shreeve, Michael Allen (Lynne) Holfert; brother, Arthur Eldon (Jean) Allen; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A biewing will be held on Saturday, February 2nd from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 4th at noon in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
