Jacob William Daniels was born on October 9, 1862, in Decatur, Illinois. He was the son of Diones S Daniels(?) and Eliza Spangler Daniels.

On November 13, 1893, Jacob Daniels and Margarette "Maggie" Travis were married in Macon County, Illinois.

According to the 1900 Federal census, Jacob and Margaret Daniels were living in Decatur, Illinois. They had two daughters: Ester Daniels, age 5 (actually Josephine Elsie); and Grace Daniels, age six months (actually Grace Ellen).

It is not known where the family was living in 1910. Searches in federal censuses for Illinois and California do not show anything. According to Jacob Daniels death certificate, he had lived in California for 32 years and his last five years in Glendale, California.

On December 24, 1917, Josephine Elsie "Joe" Daniels and James Harold "Jimmy" Doolittle were married. They had two sons.

In 1921, their youngest daughter Grace Ellen Daniels and Leland Stanford Andrews were married. They did not have any children.

Margaret Jane Travis Daniels died on December 24, 1931, in Kern County, California.
The 1920 Federal census listed J W Daniels, age 53, and Margarite J Daniels, age 46, were living in Taft, Kern County, California.

About 1937/1938, Jacob Daniels moved to Glendale, California. He lived at 2520 Hollister Terrace, and had lived there for five years before he died at home on March 19, 1942. He had been a mechanical engineer with an oil company. He was survived by his two daughters, Josephine Elsie Doolittle and Grace Ellen Andrews; and sons-in-law James Harold Doolittle and Leland Stanford Andrews.
